The Killala Diocesan Placing Hope in Faith programme enters its third stage in 2020 – ACTION.
Our listening process began in 2017 with a wide-ranging consultation process in the form of anonymous questionnaires, the results of which were independently analysed by the Institute for Action Research in Kerry.
Over 300 delegates representing all the parishes of our diocese took place in the first ever Diocesan Assembly on July 1st, 2018 and voted on 129 proposals across various areas of pastoral ministry with a view to prioritising 5-6 proposals in each category.
In 2019, ten Focus Groups spent a year discussing and planning how best to implement the proposals as prioritised by the delegates at the Diocesan Assembly.
2020 sees Placing Hope in Faith moving into the third phase – ACTION.
A newly formed Action Committee has been selected – two members from each of the ten Focus Groups, together with Bishop John Fleming, Fr. Brendan Hoban (the Diocesan Co-ordinator of Placing Hope in Faith) and other members of the original Steering Committee. The Action Committee will be led by two lay people, a woman and a man.
The first meeting of the Action Committee will take place in the Newman Institute, Ballina, on Monday, January 20th at 8.00pm.
Meetings will be held at deanery level over the coming months to update Parish Pastoral Councils on progress.
